Exercise For Thighs and a Lean Sculpted Body

A question i had in a couple of days ago from a lady who wanted to learn a top fat burning exercise for thighs.

So i am going to share with you a great thigh exercise which only takes a few minutes to complete and it hits the thighs hard. (In a good way)

Quick Exercise For Thighs

Exercise For ThighsWorking the legs is important as it’s the foundation of our bodies. Check out a recent post i did on leg workouts for men and women.

Let’s now take a look at a quick thigh exercise for you to do at home or in a gym.

First you want to make sure you have a little space around you. Once you have your space, next position yourself into a lunge stance with one leg in front and one leg behind.(Check my recent leg workouts post to see how the lunge looks if you don’t know).

Once you have the lunge position you will next jump up and switch your legs around so you have the opposite legs in the position to when you first started.

So if you have the right leg at the back and left at the front for starting out, you will want to jump upwards and switch legs to right leg in front and left leg behind.

This is a on the spot exercise so you just need to stay in one place.

If you are new to these type of balance exercises, just take your time to get use to it.

You will wobble a little and may lose balance a bit, but the aim is to keep good clean form.

This exercise for the thighs works because you really have to push off with your legs to switch them over effectively.

The better you become at this exercise the higher you can jump. It’s also good to point out that when landing the jump, to make sure you bend your legs downwards just like a standard on the spot lunge.

30 Seconds Exercise For Thighs

You will want to make sure that you look to do this exercise continus for 30 seconds none stop, then have a 15-30 seconds break and continue on for round 2.

Trust me, this makes your legs work hard and they may ache a little but that’s only because you are actually working you legs harder than a casual none effective leg exercise.

I’m a big believer in mixing things up to keep your workouts fresh and exciting, so just add this little gem into a current leg workout you are doing.

Leg Workouts For Men and Women: These Leg Exercises Work!

Today we are going to look at some great leg workouts for men and women which can be done anywhere with just a little space. I’m going to run through the leg exercises so you can start using them right away no excuses.

The legs are the foundation to our bodies and i feel most people tend to leave them out a little compared to exercising other parts of the body.

Now if you use the exercises in good form you will definitely feel the burn of your muscles working hard and toning up, as there is no need to do hundreds of reps because we are looking for quality. I explain more about this in my 200 situps story.

I have separated two different exercises from men and women but by all means try both as they are two bodyweight exercises that i love to do and teach.

Leg Workouts For Men

Leg-Workouts-For-MenThe first leg exercise is going to be what i call the lunge kicker.

So we start off in the standard lunge position with the front leg flat on the floor and the rear leg on your toes.

We then bring your rear knee towards the floor direction until around a few inches away from the floor and then lunge back up with that same rear leg throwing a kick out. (Check picture)

Once you have kicked outwards successfully, bring it back to the starting position for the lunge again.

Note: You will fall over a little. (Well i did when i first learned the lunge kicker :)

Leg Workouts For Women

Leg-workouts-for-womenThe next leg exercise to really work our lower body is the Mount Fuji Squat. This exercise really gets the legs burning in no time at all!

First start with your legs positioned like you are sitting on a horse or mini mount fuji. Feet flat on the ground, back the back up straight and looking forwards straight ahead.

Next squat slowly down to as far as a stopping point occurs while making sure you are keeping your back upright.

Once you get to your lowest squat position, hold for 5 seconds and slowly return to the upwards starting position.

Well if all of the above sounds good to you, your love this exercise. It takes a little practice but it’s just like anything new we learn.

First lay down flat on your back with your legs out straight. Next raise only one leg upwards until you reach a 90 degree angle with your legs. (Check the demo picture above)

Don’t worry if you are not that flexible at the start. Your body will adapt to it while you keep practicing.

Now the next stage is to bring that upwards facing leg back down and now bring the other leg upwards.

Continue to switch legs in repetition with each other, and you will start to feel your abs working well.

Exercise To Flatten StomachWhat i like about these vertical leg switches are the fact that they are not as tough as bringing both legs up straight together.

If you haven’t trained the core of your body that much this is the exercise to start off with to build a strong core and midsection.

I know that i have readers of all abilities of fitness levels, so if you are a beginner just take your time and practice with care.

And for the warriors out there, let’s step it up another level. Don’t forget to make sure you food intake is on track for getting a flat stomach too. Check out this post – Top food that burns belly fat.

Let’s see you do 5 reps each side (Total 10) if you are a beginner, and if you are a warrior let’s see 15 each side (Total 30).

You can do high tempo cardio, like interval training and explosive fast movements, or you can do muscle engaging movements like my post on diamond and incline pushups.

Personally i recommend people do both and again all these free videos explain in detail on exactly what to do.

So here’s my final advice: Find something that work for you, and stick with it.

Commitment and effort are the two main driving forces in anything you want to succeed in, and don’t forget that.

I remember being shown this plank exercise variation years back, and to be honest, i was a young gun who thought it didn’t look much. ‘Oh how i was wrong!’

Once my teacher ran through all the positions it was my go, and i can honestly say they work.

The main benefits of the plank exercises, are that people who have trouble doing situps because of back problems really reap the benefits from the plank exercises.

Cut a long story short i was shaking all over the place as this certain plank exercise really engaged the muscles and works the core hard. ( Even Borat agrees with me)

So let’s look a simple front plank exercise. As you can see in the picture to the demonstrating the plank, it really works the whole body.

The main reason for this is that it’s what i call a stability exercise.

Basically put, it works on your balance motion and that is why people tend to do the front plank for part of their abs training routine, because our abs are the stability muscles that help keep our posture in positions.


Side Plank Exercise

Now to finish off i thought i would throw in a side plank exercise that really tightens those love handles on the sides.

To turn the heat up on this exercise you will want to hold the side plank and then slowly move your hips up towards the sky and back down towards the ground.

This side plank exercise alone has become lot’s of my clients secret weapon to help tighten up and shrink their waistline.

Diamond Pushups and Incline Pushups: Building Strength Without Lifting Weights

An old saying is that the best weight to lift is your own. I like that saying and this is why i am going to bring the diamond pushups and incline pushups into your life.

You see, this is developing your natural body strength. It’s fine lifting weights but the guys that are lifting heavy will eventually end up with lots of injuries in the future that they just won’t shake off.

For me exercise is all about progression in life and being healthy with more energy. Of course lots of guys and girls want that toned tight trim figure and that fine. You will get that along with all of the other benefits of exercising smartly.

The two exercises i’m giving you today can be done anywhere which is just what i like, and i know most people want that on demand exercise approach too.

So let’s dive into the first great body weight strength exercise.

The Diamond Pushups

How to do the diamond pushups: Start off with your places your hands flat on the ground in front of you places them in a diamond like position (Check the picture).Diamond Pushups

You then bring your legs back into the regular pushup starting position and lower your your chest to the ground slowly for around 2 seconds and hold, then up for 2 seconds.

The reason i like to keep the exercise in more of a slower motion is because this will help engage and work your muscles harder.

This exercise will ready work and tone the upper body fast. You just need to keep practicing them to get better.

The Incline pushups

How to do the incline pushups: The incline pushup is really just a standard pushup position but you are elevating one end of your body up to allow more force to one area of the body.

What you want to do is grab a chair or something with a little height and place your feet on the chair with you hands on the ground.

What you will find is straight away you have more weight directed down on the upper body. Incline Pushup

You see, normal standard pushups are not allowing you to lift as much body weight, but with this exercise variation you lift more total body weight so you get a great challenging workout.

Just like the diamond pushups, this works the upper body like the chest and triceps plus other key areas like the core.

Here is a quick routine for you to practice right away! First start with 10 reps, have a little rest for say 30 seconds, and pump out 8, rest, and pump out 6. Once you train both of these exercises you will in total have around 50 reps.

Apply this to both exercises and you will definietly develop strength quickly. You should not forget like i mentioned before about not rushing the exercise to engage the muscles more.

Let’s look at the best abs workout for men and women where you only need around 10 minutes spare to get an amazing ab workout.

Yes i did read that right… you only need 10 minutes spare for an effective belly blitzing workout.

Guidelines for the best abs workout for men and women

- Keep the pace up on higher intensity for the whole workout

- Have little rest between each exercise as we really want to keep the burn on the abs

- Make sure you engage your abs and squeeze them when performing each exercise as you want them working hard!

- If you are a beginner you have nothing to prove, so just get familiar with the exercises and gently build up confidence with each exercise.

- If you want a real challenge make sure you don’t slack at all, and make the most of the time you have.

You have 45 seconds per exercises with 15 seconds rest after before starting the next exercise.
