Why is commitment key?

Well let me tell you first that commitment is one of the keys to success and goes hand in hand with improving the self.

People nowadays find it hard to commit to certain things as there are many distractions out there to pull them away from what they originally set out to do.

You can sit here reading this right now and I am sure that you have experienced starting out with something that you really wanted to do and achieve, then after a month or so you become side lined and then that was it, you got distracted or disheartened and didn’t follow through with what you wanted so much.

I have always found that you will not achieve much if you do not stay committed on what you really want.

First of all don’t worry too much about it, as we all have done this before. The key is to make a change to your present as you cannot change your past.

The good news is you can sit here and read this and know that you have kept a great commitment as well, whether it’s exercising more often, eating more healthily, having a great long term relationship with someone or committing to a job that you love. Whatever it is I know that you have experienced the feeling of commitment in your life.

I have had the great opportunity to meet and train with some of the best martial artist’s around on this spinning planet. The attitude they have towards their training is inspiring for millions of people out their wanting to achieve what they have in their lives. The only problem is most people see only from an outsider’s point of view, and do not realise how much dedication and commitment it takes to get to that kind of level.

But is it possible? Yes it is. I see it as if they can do it why can’t I?

Will smith the famous actor who has been in countless blockbuster films once said in an interview I remember listening to. The interviewer asks Will how he had become so successful with all of the other talent out there in the world. Will simply replied with the amount of drive he has inside of him and how he knows that he out works everyone else in his field.
He says that when the others are sleeping he’s working and when the others are eating he’s working.

Will smith obviously shows that he has great commitment and he thinks that there is a difference between talented people and skilled people. Talented people are the ones that are more born with this, but the skilled people which he says that he is, are the ones that have worked the most on developing their skill over a long period of time. What does this all come down to in the end? You guessed it… commitment!

I totally agree with this, I hear lots of people saying how great they are going to be at martial arts and they only train 2 maybe 3 times a week. Understand that the best are training 3 times a day!

Now that doesn’t mean dive into things training 3 times a day straight away at something that you want to become good at. It does take time to lead up to this and we must condition our mind and body to the best we can gradually.

Commitment is a key factor in successfully achieving goals in life, if you do not have the combination of taking action and staying committed to those goals you can kiss them goodbye.

You will always find that the most successful people in the world are the ones who are most committed to what they want in life.

In the final words realise that there really is no big secret behind being hugely successful in anything you want. But alot of people simply do not realise about the importance of commitment to anything. As long as you stay committed to what you want and believe in yourself you will improve immensely within your life.

All the best,

1. Get The Right Influences

It always helps if someone else believes in you too. How do you get this? Simply by mixing with the people who will be willing to support you and give the right kind of encouragement you need to believe in yourself. The best way would be finding a type of mentor, to help guide you along the way.

2. Get Rid Of Negative Words

Throw away the negative words such as “ I can’t or I don’t know” for these words are a disease which is hard to get rid of. Start learning to say, “I Can or I Will” more and you will see the difference within yourself.

3. Replace Negative Thoughts With Positive Ones

You must remember some times in your life when everything just went right and you were full with happiness and fulfilment. When doubtful thoughts start to pop up in your head, look to the great things which you have achieved in your life. It will soon top the fuel up of motivation.

4. The Choice Is Yours

Remember that the choice of what you believe is up to you. If you choose to think about negative things, expect to receive this in your life because that is all you are creating. So decide rather to choose to believe in yourself and receive the positive energy and attraction you deserve.

5. Condition The Mind

The last tip for learning to believe in yourself more would be one of the most important factors. Conditioning the mind to its peak level to take you to the top.

For example: If you watch any of the top sports people in the world, they have such a strong belief in their abilities that they are half way they to winning the match before they even start. In sports and in life its a big mental game. I know this first hand from entering in competitions and events from a young age. I personally knew lots of great competitors who had fantastic technique but when it came to the big stage, the doubts would start creep in and they would perform no where near their best. I remember times when this use to happen to me, and it’s very frustrating!
The key in the end for me would be to just relax and control your breathing while keeping the mind flowing with good thoughts and not let Mr. Doubtful creep in.

So there you have 5 Quick tips to start believing in yourself. You can take these away with you now and start to implement them into your life.

All the best,

Decide what you want

Okay, so first of all starting off in 2010, you will need to know and understand what you want to accomplish in the year. Basically, what do you want to experience within the year?

Most people seem to not get the best results for getting the bodies and lifestyles in shape throughout the year because they simply do not know what they want. You need to think of it as a road map. Right now you are planning for where you want to go. If you don’t know where you are going, sorry but you will not be going anywhere.

When deciding what to want to do in 2010, don’t settle for less than you want, you have to stop saying: I don’t know, I don’t care, or may or whatever. You need to take control and turn these negative responses into positive ones such as: I can and I am or I am going to.

Make a list – One of the easiest ways to find clarity in what you want to do, is to write down a list of what you exactly want. It could be to lose a stone in weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Or to exercise consistently three times a week. This exercise of writing a list will only take around 15 minutes to think things over and write them down. So make sure you get out that pen and paper and start writing!

Visualization

It is definitely true that the higher achievers in life have bigger visions. They don’t put limitations on things. Once you decide in what you want the next stage is the visualization period. So going by the examples used before with maybe wanting to lose a certain amount of weight in 2010, the vision process for this would be to understand and clearly see in your mind what you look like from an observer’s position and what you feel like from a personal view.

One of my visions as a young boy growing up through to my teenage years would be visualising myself as a full time martial arts instructor. I would draw pictures of me teaching others, and I also wrote down one day of how I would be competing at a high standard international tournament in sport Jujutsu.

Cut a long story short, by the time I was 17 years old I was on the mat teaching around the UK with my father and by 18 I had my own private classes I would be teaching. At 21 years old I competed in a world martial art games tournament.

So let me say from experiencing the power of visualization myself, I strongly recommend you do this to achieve what you want in 2010 and throughout life.

Believe In Yourself!

This one’s a big one. If you are going to achieve what you set out to do, you need to believe that you are capable to achieve such things.

You need to be around people who believe in you and support you in your life. This is one of the keys to success in anything you want to achieve in life. You must have good people around you, helping you strive forward.

You need to give up “I Can’t” and all of its related words, they will just hold you back and keep you on track for nothing but procrastinating.

You need to start conditioning your mind that you can and you will, this is what will smash procrastination away from you and go on striving forward towards success.

Just remember that it’s our beliefs that change our results, so start believing.

Take 100% Responsibility

First of all, give up the blame game; it doesn’t lead you to anywhere except an unfulfilled person with blaming others for the position that you are in right now with the choices you have made. You need to keep all of your positive energy to yourself and not blame others for your faults, as you will only direct your energy in the wrong place.

It’s the choices you make to where you have ended up now, so take this into consideration and think about the choices you make in your life right now and what changes you could make in 2010 to make it a more successful year with your new lifestyle.

Just remember that you can’t change the past, but you can right now start to make the change for your future!

Keep Focused

Keep your eyes on the prize! Learning the art of staying focused can bring you through the rough times, especially through the rollercoaster ride of emotions. Learn to master your emotions and keep focused on what you want in 2010.

Talk to the positive people who are going to uplift you in 2010, rather than speaking to people who are doubtful and not willing to fulfil their own lives let alone yours.

Goals

Goals are extremely important for knowing exactly where you want to be heading with achieving your lifestyle goals.
As I mentioned right at the start with deciding what you want, it is to know where you want to go on the map. Well with goals, it’s the road map for how you are going to get to that destination you set out to achieve. The goals will really help you guide yourself there. Don’t forget also that you can always add to your goals which you have set out too.

I would have to say though, that more importantly with the goals is to make sure that you are specific! Too many people are not specific enough to understand what they are actually aiming for. The more specific the better I say. So rather than writing down your goal for 2010 as, “I want to lose weight and be thinner in 2010.” You should write down something along the lines of “I am going to lose a stone in body weight in 2010, and most of all maintain it with a balanced lifestyle of exercising 3x a week and not over eating when I am bored or stressed out.”

Don’t forget that you need to write more than one goal to really stretch yourself and start to see growth in 2010.

Take Action

Action is the most important thing of all, as with no action nothing will be achieved. You can have all the books a gather all of the inspirational material out there in the world but without actually putting anything into practice would be like learning how to ride a bike without actually getting on and falling off a few times to only pick yourself up and get straight back on again.

So remember, do not hold yourself back and take action right away!

Commitment

Lastly you need to stay committed to what you have set out to achieve in 2010. You won’t achieve much if you do not stay committed on what you want. Commitment is a key factor in successfully achieving goals in life, and the most successful people in the world are the most committed to what they want in life.

So there are my tips on having a fantastic year for 2010 with achieving your lifestyle goals and beyond! You can use these methods above for anything you wish to achieve in 2010.

All the best for a great 2010!

This is an amazing story i felt that i had to share with you, as it is so inspiring on achieving great things.

So the next time you are feeling down and out remember this story and pick yourself up again. The only impossibility is what you put in your mind.

There is a great lesson to be learnt from this.

I am personally big on people achieving great things in their lives if they put the hard work in and determination to strive for success.

I know this because i am living proof and my father and other mentors of mine are exactly the same in really understanding what great potential we have.

But to get yourself on the right track to success you need to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself how will other believe in you.

Many years ago people tried and test to see how fast they could run a mile. Lots of people were successful in reaching the time of just over 4 minutes when completing the mile run, but nobody could seem to break the 4 minute barrier.

People tried so much that most people thought it was just not humanly possible, and our human bodies could not do such a thing.

A man by the name of Roger Bannister had the belief that this was possible and went through the stages of visualization training along with physical training.

He failed to break the barrier in under 4 minutes lots of times, but rather than throwing in the towel as most other people had done before, he kept that tenacious attitude and in 1954 he broke that barrier of running a mile in under 4 minutes.

The crazy thing is after people had seen roger break that record, soon after around 14 other people ran the mile in under 4 minutes too.

This was an incredible story in itself, just to understand the truth of using your belief system as your fuel to get you where you want to be and strive to success.

What brings a smile to my face even more is since then high school kids have run a mile in under 4 minutes.

So remember, don’t give up keep on believing in yourself and your abilities. We all have great potential.

All the best,
Richard Huntley

How do you get motivated for success?

I have had the opportunity to see quite a lot of trainer’s
and teacher’s in martial arts and fitness over the years and
surely i hear tons of stories from my dad as he’s been practicing
combatives and fitness for over 40 years!

The other day it popped up again with seeing a trainer trying to
help this client of theirs get fit while they lean against the side
and mumble some orders to the poor guy trying to get motivated.

I have always been taught by many great mentors to look out for
the life lessons that stand right in front of your eyes.

The lesson from this was that you need to be the example of what
the other person wants to be.

How can you expect the best out of someone else if there is no
excitement, flare or more importantly belief!

Just like the great Mahatma Ghandi once said, “Be the change you
want to see in the world.”

This famous quote means, don’t just say it… do it, live it,
breathe it, become it!

The important question is… How do you get motivated?

First of all you find inspiration! It will trigger off something
in you to make a change, that’s what i did over my years of training,
teaching and developing and continue to do so in my life.

When wanting to get in shape you need to find inspiration

I’ve always learnt that if you stop progressing you are just simply
existing and not living!

Don’t just exist and be a leaner, but rather live and be a winner
that takes control of their life and starts living it how they want
it to be.

Be Well,

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones

You will never succeed in anything you do inless you replace the negative thoughts that come into your head with an incision of positive ones.

Basically speaking try not to look at things worse than it really is. For example: If you have started exercising and you feel you will never make it to your goal you want to achieve the odds are stacked up against you straight away when you think like that.

Rather try and look at the goal with more of a motivational role of, yes i understand that it is hard to achieve the goal which i am heading towards but aslong as i honestly give it my all i will eventually meet that goal.

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.” Willie Nelson

Know what you want

You must know what you want. All successful people in their lives know what they want. If you don’t know what you want the chances are you will be just going around in circles for a long time doing the same thing over and over with no growth at all.

Knowing what you want just takes a bit of time to sit down and write it out. For example: Know that you want to reduce stress from your life. Know that you want to lose a certain amount of weight. Know that you want to compete at a high level in a sport.

All of these above have an understanding of what you want to do, but you must remember to be specific on what you want. Being more specific gives you a clearer insight of what you actually want to achieve.

“Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer the goal.” Elbert Hubbard

Take Responsibility

Nows the time to take full responsibility for what you do. Try not to get into the blame game. It’s the easiest thing to do blaming others for why you are struggling and not succeeding.

Become a leader of your life by grabbing the bull by the horns and bring yourself to a new level which you never thought you could.

In the end you can’t possibly get anyone else to do the pushups for you to get the results. You need to do it yourself to see the results. Once you master this you will become more of a leader rather than a follower.

“Responsibility is the price of greatness.” Winston Churchill

Be Consistent

Lastly to the section of creating an everlasting winning steel proof mindset with a tenacious outlook on things you need to become consistent. With being consistent in whatever you do you will continue to grow as a person with raising the bar of success when need be.

Consistency is where the real winners are born. For example: It is easy enough to get in shape over a short period of time but maintaining it is the hardest part of all. Master consistency in your health and life and you will see the magnificent transformation in what you will become. Most of all enjoy the journey.

“For changes to be of any true value, they’ve got to be lasting and consistent.” Anthony Robbins

All the best,

Richard Huntley
