Creating A Winning Mindset

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones

You will never succeed in anything you do inless you replace the negative thoughts that come into your head with an incision of positive ones.

Basically speaking try not to look at things worse than it really is. For example: If you have started exercising and you feel you will never make it to your goal you want to achieve the odds are stacked up against you straight away when you think like that.

Rather try and look at the goal with more of a motivational role of, yes i understand that it is hard to achieve the goal which i am heading towards but aslong as i honestly give it my all i will eventually meet that goal.

“Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.” Willie Nelson

Know what you want

You must know what you want. All successful people in their lives know what they want. If you don’t know what you want the chances are you will be just going around in circles for a long time doing the same thing over and over with no growth at all.

Knowing what you want just takes a bit of time to sit down and write it out. For example: Know that you want to reduce stress from your life. Know that you want to lose a certain amount of weight. Know that you want to compete at a high level in a sport.

All of these above have an understanding of what you want to do, but you must remember to be specific on what you want. Being more specific gives you a clearer insight of what you actually want to achieve.

“Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer the goal.” Elbert Hubbard

Take Responsibility

Nows the time to take full responsibility for what you do. Try not to get into the blame game. It’s the easiest thing to do blaming others for why you are struggling and not succeeding.

Become a leader of your life by grabbing the bull by the horns and bring yourself to a new level which you never thought you could.

In the end you can’t possibly get anyone else to do the pushups for you to get the results. You need to do it yourself to see the results. Once you master this you will become more of a leader rather than a follower.

“Responsibility is the price of greatness.” Winston Churchill

Be Consistent

Lastly to the section of creating an everlasting winning steel proof mindset with a tenacious outlook on things you need to become consistent. With being consistent in whatever you do you will continue to grow as a person with raising the bar of success when need be.

Consistency is where the real winners are born. For example: It is easy enough to get in shape over a short period of time but maintaining it is the hardest part of all. Master consistency in your health and life and you will see the magnificent transformation in what you will become. Most of all enjoy the journey.

“For changes to be of any true value, they’ve got to be lasting and consistent.” Anthony Robbins

12 Commandments For Staying Motivated

Here you will find the 12 Commandments For Staying Motivated. (The RH Martial Way.)

1. Visualize your goal you want clearly
Visualization is an important part of totally understanding what you exactly want. It’s a very powerful process and will get you off to a great start when wanting to bring more exercise into your lifestyle.

2.Rinse out those negative doubtful thoughts and replace them with more positive ones.
Don’t let the negative thoughts come into your mind; it will just stop you from achieving what you really desire to lifestyle to be like.

3. Get involved with a friend
I strongly recommend this, especially when starting out with getting in shape. Exercising with a friend is a good way to get things rolling.

4. Get some top quality coaching and support
If you really want to learn to best way to get in shape and stay like it with improving your overall lifestyle, it’s a must to seek a mentor to help you through the journey of improving your fitness.

5. Try and find more inspiration on a daily basis to uplift you
There is inspiration everywhere you go. Books, magazines, videos and articles are the content type of inspiration. But not forgetting speaking to people who may have transformed their lifestyle and bodies from where they were to where they want to be.

6. Make sure you reward yourself for your efforts
Try to reward yourself often for your progression and wellbeing. Maybe go out to the local cinema with your partner or a new item of clothing, it’s really totally up to you.

7. Make exercising more of a pleasure
I have found over the years of training and teaching that variety of exercises really helps keep things fresh new and exciting. Try and find what works for you and most of all what you enjoy doing.

8. Stick to a well developed routine structure through the week
The idea of keeping to a well structured routine would be to keep you on track throughout the weeks and you know what to expect each day. This way it is easier to keep focused too.

9. Keep a note of your progression
As from when you first made the decision to really transform your body and get in fantastic shape and right up until you are months into the lifestyle changes you need to make sure that you write things down. i.e. Weight loss, distance of walking or running, hours of exercising per week and so on.

10. Don’t Overdo it at the start
Basically don’t burn yourself out! Especially right at the start, you will find that it is terribly off putting when your body is tired and drained from doing too much at the start. I would rather you take nice gentle steps over a period of time. Start of easy and then raise the bar of difficulty as time goes on.

11. Try not to miss too many consecutive days
I find when people have longer breaks away from their usual weekly routine it is hard to get things back to normal and it effects your rhythm of progression.

12. Don’t wait any longer, just get started!
Okay, so all of the above is great and if you can take away a few good points from them and fit them into your lifestyle, brilliant. But the most important thing of all is to start now and take action. You can have all of the knowledge in the world but if you do not put it into practice now the chances are you never will. The question you need to ask yourself is what are you waiting for?

Top 5 Exercise Excuses And How To Beat Them!

1. I don’t have the time

First of all let’s get straight to the point that there is 24hrs in the day the same for everyone. You really don’t need to work out for hours in a day, just a quick 15 minutes to 25 minutes is brilliant.

Most of all it’s what you do with that time which counts. Just think 10-15 minutes of exercising in just the weekdays will soon add up, plus it’s a great way to create a habit.

We as humans work best when we are in habits. We tend to stick at things more when we are in continuous motion. This is a great positive habit to have.

2. Exercise is boring

If you are finding exercising boring you obviously have not found what you are looking for yet. There is lot’s of choice for you out there which will work for you.

In my martial fitness system i have a broad variety of choice in exercises to chose from. With this i find that not everyone want’s to do the same as others. It’s good to have an option but also to mix things up as it makes things more new and exciting for you.

You might not have a type of progression plan. (Basically goals!) Everyone loves to progress as it keeps us in motion to achieving great things. I recommend you do this right away!

3. I’m too tired

Actually this is one of my favourites I hear because working out itself will actually make you feel less tired. It’s proven!

I always say it’s totally up to you when you wish to exercise through the day but I would recommend the morning as it sets you up in a peak state for the day. Clears the mind!

4. I’m not the active type

Working out doesn’t mean you have to run a mile in 4 minutes or anything.

Everyone is at different levels when exercising, as if you are starting out and getting in shape you don’t want to be doing what someone has been working out for a couple of years. It will burn you out straight away and most of all put you off.

More importantly than anything, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Just enjoy the journey of progression over time and see your body transform through its stages, it’s a great thing!

5. I always seem to quit

If you really find it hard to motivate yourself you should want to seek a mentor that can help you with some experience.

Also I would say you need to write out your progression goals, make sure you are progressing all the time, you never want to become stagnant for too long. It leads to procrastination.

Lastly I will say workout with a friend or someone at the same stage which you are. This can be a great way to get things rolling, especially at the start of getting fit.

So there you have it, 5 excuses I have just tackled and got straight to the point. In the end there are tons of excuses why you can’t, but only one reason why you can and that’s to progress you!

Be well,

Richard Huntley

The Art Of Improving

Important question.

How do i keep on improving?
Self improvement should always be studied throughout our life each day. If you want to be up there with the best, you better start improving.

If you want to get in the best shape of your life you need to start exercising for health and lifestyle improvement. Just remember, improvement is just another word for self growth. We must always keep growing to be successful in whatever we chose to do whether it’s our career choice or healthy lifestyle, we have to keep on growing.

Will Smith the famous musician/actor stood in front of a packed crowd at an awards ceremony and stated, i want everyone to listen closely. I’m giving you the keys to life right now! The keys to life is running and reading.
He goes on to say that first running. When you are out running and you start to get a little tierd, then there is that little voice in your head that’s shouts i’m so tierd right now i think my lungs are about to burst! I don’t think i can take this any more, there’s no way i could possibly continue!

He states that if you learn to not quit when that little voice comes into your head when you are out running, you will also start to bring that never quit attitude into your life. Especially when things in life gets tough and obstacles are thrown in your way.

Next he mentions Reading, the reason why reading is so important is there have been millions and millions of people who have lived before all of us. There is no new problem that you can have, from parenting to loving life. He then finsishes off by saying all of these problems that are out there that you are experiencing right know have already been solved in books written by people who lived before us.

I personally thought that he hit the nail on the head with this speech. Basically in a nut shell he is saying that exercise is more than just keeping fit. If you do it right, it will be the transformation of your approach on life, and that is exactly my approach with my martial fitness lifestyle.

Before you start getting to overwhelmed, the key is to improve in small gradual steps. This way they become more reachable and achieivable to get the ball rolling, plus you will be able to raise the bar everytime to complete each step of achieving your goals.

Just remember, you can’t skip vital steps, it’s all the pieces of the puzzle put together to become successful in whatever you do. It is like having the importance of foundations to a building, it needs to be stable and strong otherwise it will simply fall down when the weather gets tough just like in our lives.

Take action right now and decide what you need to improve on, write out achievable goal steps and start improving!

Invest In YOU!

Investing in you has different forms.

One being you spend money to get the best personal tuition from other people to help you.

A great example of this would be through my martial arts path so far, I have invested my money in training with some of the greatest martial artists that ever lived.

Do you really need to? It really does depend how successful you want to be. For me I want to excel in anything what I do and to do so I believe you have to invest and learn from successful people.

The next investment is time.

Without investing time, I don’t care who you have been taught by you will still not reach anywhere near the level than if you invest a lot of time into something.

I’ve spent countless hours training in martial arts and fitness, but if I want to be up there with the best I have to put the time in.

The above is different ways to invest in yourself, but now I will show you what you really need to invest in to live an enjoyable life.

Investing in your Health benefits

Here is 4 quick benefits

1. Live a longer life to spend more time with you grand children.

2. Live a happier life and do exactly what you want to do.

3. Travel the world and see interesting places and meet new people.

4. Do the simple things like go for a countryside walk with your partner.

Investing in your protection

All of the above with investing in your health is a must to living an enjoyable healthy lifestyle, but at the same time people tend to forget that if you do not know how to look after yourself it can all be taken away from you in the worst-case scenario.

Attending a self-defence course is one great way to have an insight and gain some knowledge on how to defend yourself and your loved ones in different situations.

The key is to find a good instructor, and like I mentioned before put the time in practicing what you learn. It may just save your life!

Here are a few different types of investment sources.
Books, manuals, audio, videos, seminars, classes, and private tuition.

So remember! There is only one of you, so start looking after yourself.

Vision Training (Are you doing it?)

In this short video i let you into a great tip i learnt which lot’s of my martial art mentors have taught me over the years of training.

It’s the power of Vision training!

The great thing is, this concept can be taken into any part of your life from getting fit to getting the career you’ve always wanted.

It’s what i would call the first step towards success.

Enjoy

Richard

Breaking Down The Barriers

What are the barriers? Negative Thoughts, self-doubt, fear, Self-comfort. All of this leads to procrastination.

The main focus is don’t let things get to you; it needs to be the martial way of thinking, having mind over matter. There actually is never anything the matter, only when you allow it to become one. Inner mindset strength is what you need. That’s what you call real strength. You see, it’s not about being able to lifts the heaviest weight and do the most reps even though that can be a good achievement for some people but more about having the mind over matter approach in our lives that we know we are able to control your self in what we do.

When becoming good at something you have to break down the barriers for the success you come your way. I know that when I was learning a new technique in martial arts, especially the big throwing techniques, you would see other people do it and I used to think to myself, there’s no way I’m going to be able to do that. The barriers popped up with me saying to myself, those guys are higher belts or they are a lot stronger than me. The problem with that kind of thinking is it holds you back from achieving anything. Yes okay maybe I am not going to be able to do a spectacular throw like some of the top players out straight away, but heck am I going to try? Yes I am! Once I started to bring those type of thoughts into my mindset I was doing those throws that were in front of my eyes watching other people do it, to in no time I was throwing over people with effective technique and throwing a lot heavier people than myself. So I had to ask myself, had I changed? Physically no, mentally yes. I just thought about the situations differently and let the mind over matter approach come into play.

Is it easy to become great in certain areas of your choice? From my experience and lot’s of people who are successful in their field I know the answer is no it’s not that easy. If it were that easy everyone would be great at the fields. But the inspiring thing is, can you become great and even better the best in what you do? Yes you can, and you will with putting in all the right action steps to succeed such as time, effort, sacrifices, passion, love, and tenacity. Those are just a handful but can take you through the door of success. All of this is the ingredient for your success. First just like I did, you need to break down the barriers and go get what you really want.

We seem to put limits on what we can actually achieve. The first thing that we need to do before even achieving anything, is start to get out of their every day comfort zones. Comfort zones are the things that we find easy to do. It would be easy for me just to stick writing one article every month or so to update my website, and yes that would be very comfortable. But am I growing as a person and stretching myself? No not at all. So let’s feed the world my knowledge once a week, now that’s an improvement. There is no growth and self-improvement in getting comfortable. So when you feel the barriers of comfort around you creeping in I want you to break them all down and go into the discomfort. Before you know it, the things were discomforting to you originally become nice and comfortable. The next stage is to continue on breaking down the limits that you tell yourself and what you hear from other people you can’t do. You can do it, and you will.

Are you comfortable right now? Break down those barriers!

Keeping Motivated & Achieving What You Want.

Keeping motivated is one of the most difficult things people find in today’s world.

Why you might ask…

Well I am sure there are a lot of reasons for this which different people have for giving up on things so easy when the going gets a little tough.

I have always been told that grow is found in discomfort. Meaning when things get a bit tough all it comes down to a test to see to give up or to carry on to strive forward to what you want to achieve in life.

People tend to get unmotivated because mainly when the distractions step into their lives.

The question is how do i get motivated and more important, how do i stay motivated. I’m very sure that you have witnessed this first hand or seen other people act in this way of not managing to keep their motivation once started. One of the best examples i can give for this would be weight loss. I see lot’s of people go up and down with their weight like a yoyo diet, because the actual problem is they seem to lose lot’s of weight for a special occasion and they feel on top of the world and great about themselves, but then about 6 weeks later the pounds start piling back on. I’m sure most people reading this has seen this time and time again.

I truly believe that people who set goals achieve more because they know exactly what they want. I especially believe you need goals when bringing exercise in your lives when keeping your body and mind in shape, which the martial fitness routines and plans provide. It is also a great way to measure your successes in fitness throughout the year, as it show’s you where you started to where you want to be then actually achieving it.
“You need to have a set destination where you are heading for otherwise you will be forever going around in circles.”

One of the most important tips i can give with setting your own personal goals in your lives is to make sure that they are achievable goals. What we don’t want is to write down we are going to swim the British channel a week from today. Always start small and raise the bar. A start to achieving the swim across the British channel for England to France would be set a number of lengths to do in a local swimming pool. You see what i mean? Then we start to hit progress and this leads to… yes you guessed it, motivation! This is one of the keys to success.

The good part about having goals would be that you can keep adding to them when wanting to achieve more. So make sure you keep raising that bar of success and you will discover a whole new you.

Remember to set your own personal goals and make sure that you write them down. When doing this it tells plus helps you with what you have set out to do and accomplish from the start.
So now we understand a bit about your personal goals with the lifestyle aims, but now moving on to something which I would have to say is one of the most important things which will take you to the top in lots of aspects of life.

So what is it?

Three words….

Believe in yourself!

Believing in yourself and your ability is so important, so throw away all those negative thoughts that creeps into your mind which are keeping you at a job you don’t like or stopping you from achieving something you have always dreamed of doing. Trust me it is holding you back from gaining such big things in life and once you master this belief in yourself everything will start to fall into place and you will start to live your life how you want to be.

So get writing and believing!

Creating Your Own Time

One of the most common answers why people find it hard to commit them selves to do exercises is because they say that they simply do not have enough time.

Before we go any further, the first thing you need to understand it that we cannot change time. The good news is there are 24 hours in a day for everyone so we all have the same equal sharing of time on this spinning planet. It doesn’t matter if you how powerful and great you may be we all have the same amount of time.

With time understanding that good quality results come your way when you put the time in for whatever it is you are doing exactly.

An example I can personally share with you would be when I wanted to become a good quality competitor in the martial art of Jujutsu and be able to handle my own against some of the top ranked competitors in Jujutsu. Now I did understand that it was going to take time to become a good all round Jujutsu player, but to be good I needed to train as much and even more than the other competitors to even have a chance. With a lot of time training physically and mentally on the mats it nearly became that I actually lived on my training mats.

When certain classes had finished and all the students had gone home I would continue my training practicing things I had learnt and certain things I had to work on. You need to remember this is what i did for my job, training and teaching the art of Jujutsu for my living.

After putting a lot of time on the training mats, including self belief that I was creating the same chance as all of the other competitors out there and not forgetting carrying on practicing when everyone else would be getting tucked up ready for bed it came to the point when it all paid off and I got the opportunity to compete from Great Britain. What a great feeling it was to have that chance and I will never forget it as it helped me in more ways than just practicing Jujutsu it gave me the true understanding of importance of the value of time and how to make it work for you, not forgetting opening alot of other doors for me in life.

How to put it into practice?

What I am not asking anyone to do is throw themselves into lots of hours of exercise per week because most of all you will soon lose the interest in what you are doing and it will become more of a chore than a fun positive transformation.

I strongly recommend to people who want to learn and live an enjoyable fit and rewarding lifestyle to include picking 2 days per week and 20-30 minutes on those days. When doing this you will surely reap the benefits of your time put in.

One of the most importnat lessons i once learned that it’s what you do with the time that counts. People can spend over an hour running through routines to do, but you can really cut that time in half an get just the same results not even more if you know what to do.

To help guide you through this process you want to make sure that you are making the most of your time, and my book “it’s all about you” has a great selection of my own personalised RH Martial Fitness routines to help you keep motivated while exercising and also you do not run out of ideas. Whether it is with a partner or by yourself I think you need to check it out. My ebook downloadable version of “it’s all about you!” is out now at only £8.99 you will get over 140 pages of instructionals. This is a great to get started and introduced the RH Martial Fitness system.

So remember there is 24 hours in day for everyone all over the world, so what’s the wait? Get going and have a fit and enjoyable lifestyle.

Till next time…

Richard
